چکیده

The TE72 mode in cylindrical waveguide has its group velocity nearly equal to that of the TE11 mode when the operating frequency of the former is seven times of that of the latter. Thus the two modes have almost the same resonant magnetic field, and coherent radiation can be generated at the 7th harmonic when the fundamental energizes a gyrating electron beam by the cyclotron autoresonance interaction. It is shown analytically that the electron's gyration radius, normalized to waveguide radius, must be less than 0.5431 in the cyclotron autoresonance interaction. This analytical prediction is well confirmed by computer simulations. For a 300 kV, 30 A warm beam driven by 20 MW rf power at 2.856 GHz, simulations indicate that 7th harmonic power of up to 16 MW at 20 GHz can be obtained.

A 2.4 GHz High Performance CMOS Sub-Harmonic Mixer

In this paper a low power CMOS sub-harmonic mixer based on the Gilbert cell for 2.4 GHz ISM band application is presented, in which the position of the switching and transconductance stages of mixer has been exchanged. A tuning out inductor has been used between the RF and LO switching stages to improve the linearity and noise figure, and also to enhance the conversion gain of the Mixer. The ut...

InP-based waveguide photodiodes heterogeneously integrated on silicon-on-insulator for photonic microwave generation.

High-linearity modified uni-traveling carrier photodiodes on silicon-on-insulator with low AM-to-PM conversion factor are demonstrated. The devices deliver more than 2.5 dBm RF output power up to 40 GHz and have an output third order intercept point of 30 dBm at 20 GHz. Photodiode arrays exceed a saturation current-bandwidth-product of 630 mA · GHz and reach unsaturated RF output power levels o...

Design and Control of a Novel hybrid Active Power Filter based on Load Harmonic Currents Separation with the aim of DC-link voltage minimization in voltage source converter

This paper proposes a new hybrid active power filter, including voltage source converter (VSC) based active power filter and Thyristor Controllable LC Passive Filter (TCLC-HAPF) for eliminating harmonic load current components and compensating reactive power. This new structure which is based on the separation of high and low-frequency components of load current idea can reduce the drawbacks of...

Bessy Vsr: a Novel Application of Srf for Synchrotron Light Sources

CW SRF Cavities have been used very successfully in the past in synchrotron light sources to provide high power acceleration. Here we present a novel application of higher harmonic systems of two different frequencies (1.5 GHz and 1.75 GHz) to generate a beating of accelerating voltage. With such a system it is possible to store "standard" (some 10 ps long) and "short" (ps and sub-ps long) puls...

The RF Power Behind Design Innovation

Power density in active devices is increasing according to the demands of transistor users. Applications in commercial wireless, avionics, broadcast, industrial, and medical systems are pushing the envelope for solid-state power, with growing requirements for higher output power levels from fewer output-stage devices. At Freescale Semiconductor, supplying high-performance radio frequency (RF) a...
